Light
light is warmth
and the warmth
flowing out
warming others
warmth and light
this candle flaring
in the window
a midnight sun
this bulb of light
the tree root
perky on its ledge
a pledge
to last summer’s madness
that rage forgotten now
as day’s warmth
lingers and is soon gone
fruit plucked
from a distant tree
in a foreign land
as glass on table
waits for the owner’s hand
these flowers
alive at night
their star’s eyes
glistening
this tree a promise
a constellation of hope
hidden in its branches
stars more stars
more flowers
alight alive
burning bright
holes in the night
the hunter hunting
the watcher
waiting
guarding
faithful
however
long the wait
or dark the night
